Sporting Kansas City signed 27-year-old Erik Thommy. He joined Major League Soccer after playing in the Bundesliga.
He spent four years with VfB Stuttgart. He can officially join Sporting KC from July 7.
Thommy will be signed until the end of the 2024 season. There will also be an option for the 2025 season.

“This is a big step for me in my career,” Thommy said. “I had great conversations with Peter Vermes and I’m delighted to be joining MLS, a league that has grown a lot in recent years. This club has great fans, great facilities and a great stadium. I want give my best for the team and I’m ready for the challenge.
Thommy will be one of the team’s international players. He must receive his international transfer certificate and P1 visa to join Sporting Kansas City.
The German native – who turns 28 on August 20 – has made 11 appearances for Stuttgart, including 1 start, in the 2021-22 season. He hasn’t scored in those 11 games, according to Soccer Reference.

He last scored a goal with Düsseldorf in the 2019-20 season. He scored six goals that season.
Thommy spent his career with three leagues. He appeared in 139 games, including 89 starts. He scored 18 goals in his career.
